Lupe Fiasco....the music speaks for itself!!!
Lupe....word play genius....nuff said!
I haven't got a chance to listen to Lupe Fiasco's new album Tetsuo & Youth but I am sure when I do I will be posting more from the boy illinois. I couldn't help but post this one as I randomly stumbled across "Something That I Never Had" and was so impressed with the word play and message of the song. Lupe has never been afraid to speak out on topics most artist won't touch and I commend him for that. His flow and delivery are on point and the production is solid. I have already heard "Deliver" (Produced by MoeZ'art and Marcus Stephens), so I am excited to sit down and take in Tetsuo & Youth.

Big Twins AKA Twin Gambino NEW ALBUM 2015
BIG TWINS Thrive 2 (Deluxe Edition)
For those of you who don't know Big Twins...he has been in the game for a long time now and reps Queensbridge. You can read more about his past history at the Infamous Mobb wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infamous_Mobb
He has such a unique voice, original wit and a trademark flow. I am sure you have heard him on a Mobb Deep Joint. I am excited to sit down and hear his new album Thrive 2 (Deluxe Edition) as I am already impressed with his new split video that I have posted in this article. Don't sleep on underground emcees...take the time to peep this raw material being dropped in a time of skinny jeans and v-neck tee's. The deluxe edition is 40 tracks deep and is full of dope features....to name a few: The Alchemist, Prodigy, J-Hood, Freddie Gibbs, Planet Asia, Big Noyd, Termanology, Jean Grae, Agallah and more.

20th Anniversary: Dah Shinin'
Dah Shinin' Smif-N-Wessun
20th Anniversary
I just got the privilege of seeing Smif N Wessun perform at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto; celebrating the 20th Anniversary of "Dah Shinin'". I didn't make it in time for the opening acts...but got there just in time to bump into Tek by the bar and got my vinyl signed before he was due on stage. As Buckshot was hitting the stage with classic joints....I couldn't help but feel a overwhelming feeling of nostalgia. The security was tight and I almost got thrown out for lighting a spliff....but was quick witted and avoided being ejected from the venue. As Smif N Wessun hit the stage I was past tipsy and felt like I was back in '95....They performed all the classic joints with a dash of some recent work. I threw together a highlighted clip of the performance(which can be found below), but despite being in the front row....they ran thru the crowd and performed "Sound Bwoy Bureill" standing on a bar in the back corner....after the show Smif N Wessun hung out to sign shit and take pictures with fans...I got steele to sign my vinyl before I bounced. Overall the show was great and it was the best ten dollars I ever spent....Mind you, I got my ticket the first week they went on sale and people were paying twenty five dollars at the door.....
Steele got ink'd up just before the show by Toronto's very own Scoot Mason

To Pimp a Butterfly-Kenrick Lamar (Micky Bluntz-Album Review)
To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar's album "To Pimp a Butterfly" was due to release on March 23rd, 2015., but has been released a week early. With his critically acclaimed singles "I"(Prod. By Rahki) and "The Blacker the Berry" (Prod. by Boi-1da, Koz & Terrance Martin) being stand out tracks on the album, the album is packed with great music. My personal favourite is "You Ain't Gotta Lie(Momma Said)" (Prod. by LoveDragon) for the simple fact that it takes on a smooth vibe but holds so much truth lyrically. I was also feelin' "Complexion"(Prod. by Thundercat, Sounwave, Terrace Martin & Antydote) and "U" (Prod. by Taz Arnold AKA Ti$A, Whoarei & Sounwave). Overall the album is layered with great melodies, deep lyrics and sound production that has great soul-jazz-funk inspired beats. Get your copy at itunes today....
Give us your feedback and let us know what you think about the album?

Michael Jordan is an official billionaire....joining the Forbes Billionaire List
Michael Jordan is now an official billionaire....joining the Forbes Billionaire List. Air Jordan was one of the highest paid athletes and also makes a healthy living from Nike payouts. The Jordan brand grossed an estimated $2.25 billion in 2013, earning his Airness some $90 million. His most valuable asset is his stake in the Charlotte Hornets, worth more than $500 million. The value of all NBA teams went up after Donald Sterling went on his rant and was forced to sell his team due to his actions and Steve Ballmer bought the LA Clippers for a staggering 2 billion. Forbes puts MJ on the list with a net worth of 1 billion dollars. That must look like pocket change to Bill Gates (net worth 79.2 billion) and Warren Buffett (net worth 72.7 billion). The only reason I'm posting this is because Michael Jordan's shoe had and still has such a huge impact on Hip Hop culture.
The number 3's and 5's are my favourite....Which one(s) are yours???
Side note...The number 3's is the first pairs to bare the Jumpman logo.

Put your L's up...
16 years ago on this day we lost one of the best emcees that ever picked up the mic....Lamont Coleman (May 30, 1974 – February 15, 1999), better known by his stage name Big L. For those of you that don't know him...he had a very short lived career but had some of the sharpest punch lines EVER! With only one album released and a second after his passing he still goes down as one of the best emcees to ever do it. If you don't know his music I have included a few links below...

Grammy Awards 2015
PREEMO & THE GRAMMY AWARDS![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge2pmWvf9RGk_vP04oX8SSpwYAhw3nYS6cAY2NenDiZHlp35mt9Ym1XRGi4fEcKkOIpZeYCXDEfIF-2BEQE8FKAF5ZR91TdJn2ve5os-dMSJ3gMcfvIv6PzdQVP2ALHESx-lM0Y2slcvo/s1600/NjAyMDE1MzA=_o_dj-premier-talks-latest-studio-experience-with-kanye-.jpg)
The Grammy Awards will air on Feb. 8th, 2015 and I have never been a fan due to feeling it was always a bit bias. I am glad to know that now the living legend DJ Premier will be on the voting committee and it will be interesting to see if he has an impact on how some artist get nominated. In the link I provided you can watch Preemo talk about his role on the voting committee, who he thinks will win best Rap album of the year and about winning awards himself.

DJ Premier had to close the legendary D&D Studios (also known as "The HeadQcouterz") recently but he isn't slowing down. The 48 year old has big plans for the future....he is working on the album, Last Session @320, after he relocates to a recording space in Astoria, New York City, U.S., he is also starting a band.....check out their jam session here:

Mission Statement
This blog page was created so people can discover Hip Hop in it's purest form....if it be underground, indie or even just a throwback to the golden era. Our goal here is to post links to new music, breaking news and people's opinion on music in general...or even about a specific topic. We will also be celebrating anniversary's of classic albums to get your feedback on favourite tracks or a shared memory. Our mission is to facilitate and encourage the pursuit of knowledge, art, culture and responsible leadership through Hip Hop.
We hope we can turn people on to new artist/songs and give them hope that Hip Hop isn't dead. Most people see Hip Hop heading in a direction that is "all about the money"...it is a business at the end of the day, but most of us want to see this culture persevered. This blog page will feature old and new artist that share the love for the Hip Hop culture, embody the grassroots of our culture and as well as pay homage to those who paved the way.
I grew up with two deaf parents and never really had musical influences growing up. I was in grade four when a friend gave me Big Daddy Kane's "A Taste Of Chocolate" album and Hip Hop has consumed my life ever since. I tuned in like an addict....learning the history of Hip Hop by reading books, collecting magazines, constantly finding new music and sharing my knowledge with my friends(which most will tell you that I am the go to guy for new music and rumour disputes). I still involve myself with the same amount of passion for the art and hope to gain an audience of like minded people.
